How to obtain your tourist visa to enter Mexico?
You must consult with the representative of the Mexican Consulate in your country of origin to gain the information about the requirements and complete the necessary procedures to obtain your visa. The requirements are different for some countries.
As of December 2006 you can enter Mexico without the need of a visa if you are a resident of the following countries: Just present your passport and the Tourist Form. You can obtain this form at your travel agency, through the airline or at your point of entry into Mexico.
Germany, Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Chile, Cyprus, South Korea, Costa Rica, Denmark, Slovenia, Spain, USA, Estonia, Finland, France, Grate Britain, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Monaco, Norway, New Zealand, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Slovak Republic, San Marino, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Uruguay and Venezuela.
The Migration Agent at your point of entry may ask you to prove the economic solvency necessary to maintain you during your stay in Mexico and may require you to show an onward airline ticket.
If you hold the nationality of any other country, you must consult with a representative of the Mexican Consulate in your country of origin. Entry in the migratory capacity of Non-immigrant, artist or sports visit
General considerations for all migration procedures:
In negotiations, the foreigner or his/her legal representative must use the form “application for migration procedures” and comply with the detailed requirements stipulated for each case.
All required documents must be presented in duplicate (original and copy) when applying to the immigration authority. All original documents will be returned to the applicant with the exception of letters and forms written directly to the National Institute of Migration.
Documents issued abroad (with the exception of passport and documents related to identity and travel) must be stamped by the Government Authority of the issuing country or legalized by the Mexican Consulate, and where necessary translated into Spanish by an official expert.
In case the interested party realizes this procedure using an agent or legal representative, the documentation must be accompanied with a letter giving power of attorney to the aforementioned person written by the applicant. A copy of an official photograph.
When presenting letters or forms to the National Institute of Migration, they should be handed in with a valid, official photographic identification (with signature) of the person who signed the letter, and if this person is a foreigner, they should present their migration documents.
Specific documents that must be attached to the application: - Official form applying for entry into Mexico.
- Valid passport.
- A letter on headed paper addressed to the National Institute of Migration, signed by the applicant. Where it is indicated in which the activities the applicant will be participating in during their stay in Mexico.
- Official, valid identification with photograph and signature of the person who signed/wrote the letter. (If foreign, migration documents).
- In the case of minors, written and notarized permission by their parents in the presence of a competent authority, stamped by the Government Authority of the issuing country or legalized by the corresponding Mexican Consulate and written or translated into Spanish, indicating the permission to undertake lucrative activities.
How to proceed to get the visa for the competition?
- Contact the consulate of México at your near location.
- Submit all above documentation required.
- Contact event organizers providing the following information:
- Complete name
- Home address
- Phone number (office & home)
- E-mail
- Date in which all documentation was provided to the Consulate
With above information, the Chief of International Affairs of State of México will contact the corresponding Consulate to facilitate the rider visa process. Right after the rider gets the visa, he must inform to the WEC organizer of his arrival itinerary, to coordinate that an Authority from the Government of the State of Mexico can assist the rider and companions during the entry process at immigration and customs.
CUSTOM ARRANGEMENTS
All customs arrangements are coordinated through the Federal secretary of Tourism and the Mexican Sports Confederation-CODEME, in coordination with the event organization.
Details of procedures will be as follows:
- Each national federation and/or team must send the list of participants, logistics people, mechanics, manager, etc. to the organization accompanied with a detailed list of the equipment that will be shipped as well as the traveling itinerary.
- The organization will have a specific person to receive this information and send it to the Federal Customs Direction to inform of this delegation or team arrival.
- The Federal Custom Direction will keep in direct communication to assist each delegation when entering according to their itinerary.
- One person in charge from the Direction of International Affairs of the Government of the State of Mexico, to welcome and assist delegations at customs and immigration at Mexico City and Toluca International Airports.
